New technologies are revealing the great diversity of microorganisms living in and on the human body, along with surprising connections to our health. Update your knowledge about the role of the microbiome in health and disease, review microbiome curriculum for grades 9-12 and develop strategies for implementing microbiome-related content in your classes. Appropriate for: Grade 9-12 Biology, Health or Anatomy and Physiology Teachers
Participation will entail:
- Completing several background readings, watching scientist talks online, and taking content knowledge quizzes for each.
- Submitting questions for and participating in a live Q&A session with a microbiome researcher.
- Reviewing The Human Microbiome curriculum materials on Learn.Genetics and submitting a plan for implementing them in your classroom.
- Posting to a group discussion about strategies for implementing microbiome concepts in your core curriculum.
